East Leeds SILC Partnership
Here at Kippax Ash Tree we are very proud of the partnership we have with the East SILC (Specialist Inclusive Learning Centre) as this builds on our ethos of Inclusion.
How does the partnership work?
We have a small group of children from the East SILC who attend Kippax Ash Tree every day. This group of children spend some lessons in their 'base' classroom, where they are taught by staff from the East SILC. The children benefit from the multi-sensory learning and total communication approach used. For some lessons, the children access the mainstream provision with their mainstream peers. During this time they are supported by staff from the East SILC. To access Kippax Ash Tree through the partnership provision, you must speak to the East SILC.
"The East SILC offers exciting learning opportunities for children aged between 3 – 19 with a range of complex learning difficulties. Some of our pupils are on the autistic spectrum, have complex medical needs or who because of their communication difficulties become anxious and struggle to engage. All are our priority, and through outstanding staff and a thirst to deliver innovative and creative learning, we are proud to say we meet the needs of all our young people, helping them to achieve their maximum potential."
